The Mountain Haven Emergency Shelter-Basic Center Program (Mountain Haven) serves homeless and runaway youth age 12 to 17 for up to twenty-one (21) days by providing a safe environment to protect youth from abuse and neglect, improve quality of life of residents and encourage recovery, improve functioning, symptom reduction and overall wellbeing of youth. The program provides outreach to runaway and homeless youth; temporary shelter, food, clothing, individual, group and family counseling; aftercare and referrals, as appropriate, to minimize the negative impact of homelessness.

Staff shall provide services to meet the basic needs of runaway or homeless youth who meet the criteria for services to protect them from abuse/neglect/exploitation, to meet their needs for housing, food, medical care and other services to meet their short-term needs. The mission is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of youth who are displaced from their homes, including disrupted foster care placements. Mountain Haven operates without a treatment license but has the ability to provide direct individual, family, and group counseling as well as case management through Medicaid. All youth will be provided or referred for needed services regardless of status of insurance or their (guardian's) ability to pay.
