Join us for the 21st Annual Stand Up for a Brighter Tomorrow Conference in Paintsville, Kentucky on April 3, 2020!

This conference will benefit professionals, parents and others interested in increasing their knowledge about sexual assault/domestic violence and emotional and/or behavioral disorders found in children.

Due to the increasing uncertainty with the Covid-19 virus, Mountain Comprehensive Care Center has decided to cancel their “Stand up for A Brighter Tomorrow Conference.” We are committed to the safety of those who were planning to attend. We hope to be able to reschedule and are looking at future options. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and will update registrants as soon as a decision is made about a reschedule date.

 
  • There is no registration fee to attend the conference and there is no charge for continuing education credits.
  • A free buffet lunch will be provided.
  • A silent auction will be conducted and door prizes will be given during lunch.
  • Please notify Renee Conn if you find you cannot attend after registration so that others can be registered after maximum capacity is reached.

 

Approval of CEU credits is pending for all workshops through the Kentucky Board of Social Work, the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology, NAADAC, and the Licensed Professional Counseling Board. Attendees must attend an entire workshop and complete a written evaluation to receive 1.5 CEUs per workshop. A total of 4.5 CEUs is available for attending three approved workshops.

 

This conference is hosted by Mountain Comprehensive Care Center’s Healing Program for Survivors of Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence, Substance Use Disorders Program, and Assisted Outpatient Treatment Program. Funded in whole or part with public funds. Additional funding is provided by Families First Community Collaboration for Children.

 

Limited Seating of 200. Registration cut-off will be at maximum capacity or no later than March 27, 2020

Working with Military Service Members, Veterans, and their Families- Considerations, Challenges, and Sexual Assaults

Presenter: Charles Lay, CA NACP at advanced level D-SAACP Level IV

CEUs Pending – Kentucky Board of Social Work, Kentucky Board of Examiners in Psychology, Licensed Professional Board of Counselors

Military Service Members, Veterans, and their families have unique needs when it comes to behavioral health issues. These needs are often compounded by sexual assault. Participants will have a better understanding of how military service or being a dependent of a service member impacts an individual, and their willingness to seek services when coupled with a sexual assault.

Trauma affects aspects of human functions (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). During this interactional workshop, we will explore how to regain health, reclaim resilience, and turn towards hope for a brighter future.

Surviving Human Trafficking

Presenter: Summer Dickerson, CEO of Esther's House & Human Traffic Survivor

A raw look at human trafficking through the lens of a survivor. This session will provide human services professionals with information and resources to provide a more supportive environment to trafficked survivors.
