Specialized services are available to victims of interpersonal violence and are available to family and friends of the victims. Therapists are specially trained to serve victims of child abuse, sexual assault, adult survivors of child sexual abuse, and domestic violence.
The advocate accompanies victims and their families to court appearances, meetings with law enforcement, and meetings with prosecutors. The advocate is available to assist victims in understanding the court processes and available to assist the victim in obtaining needed community resources.
Volunteer medical advocates are available 24/7 to assist victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in any of the area 6 emergency rooms. Advocates work with victims in understanding the forensic examination and to assist the victim in obtaining community resources.
Staff provides in-service training to schools, civic groups, and other groups. Topics include sexual harassment, reporting child abuse, symptoms of child abuse, recognizing domestic violence, and how victims can assess services.
