This service can be accessed by different avenues. A toll free phone number is available for callers requesting information about rape crisis services. The crisis line is available 24/7. Assistive technology for the deaf and hard of hearing is available to callers. Individuals calling the crisis line are not required to identify themselves. When a caller requests a victim advocate or therapists, calls are forwarded to a rape crisis staff person. Additionally, crisis calls are also received at local sites, which include the Floyd, Johnson, Martin, and Pike County Clinics. Crisis counseling also occurs at local service sites. Staff are available to provide individual crisis counseling services Monday thru Friday.
Mental Health and Support Services
Therapy services are provided by staff who are certified or licensed in a mental health profession and who have had 1 year experience prior to VSP assignment. Staff complete 40 hours of sexual training within the first three months. Therapy services are available to victims of sexual assault/family members that reside in the Big Sandy region. Therapy services are available during regular working hours. Therapy services are documented on the clinical note approved by the Agency and placed in the client record. Therapy services include individual therapy and group therapy. Support services also include information and referral.
