Medical Advocacy Services
This aspect of the Program provides immediate services to victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence while the victim is at one of the in-region emergency rooms. Often times, victims have to wait in the emergency room alone, while law enforcement is contacted, or medical services becomes available to them. The medical advocate can sit with the victim at the hospital and explain the procedures, help them to understand the "rape kit", assist the victim in getting questions answered, provide support to the victim and to the family members of the victim, and assist the victim in development of safety plan. This service is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. If you become aware of someone that is in need of this type of service, please call the HELPLINE at 1-800-422-1060, and a medical advocate can be dispatched.

Legal Advocacy Services
The Program provides legal advocacy services to victims that are involved in the legal process either due to domestic violence or sexual assault issues. The legal advocate does not provide legal advice or guidance. However, the advocate does assist the victim in understanding the court process, assisting in safely issues, and providing support during the legal proceedings. This service is FREE to the victim.

You are not alone. There are people who can assist you in your recovery.
